have you heard ???

Don’t participate in, but rebuke, gossiping.  The Jews have a useful term called ‘loshon hora,’ or the evil tongue.  While telling lies, presenting rumors for evidence or violations of Matthew 7:1-5 / Luke 6:41-42 (hypocritical and censorious judgment) are not permitted, neither is telling the truth without a good reason such as to bring correction, nor is it necessary to tell people who would have no legitimate interest at hand 1 Corinthians 2:15, 5:3.  Gossip almost always winds its way back to the person who is being gossiped about and this compounds the harm and hurt caused by gossiping. “Never pass anything on about anybody else that will hurt him.” “Love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). The talebearer has no place in God’s favor. If you know something that would hinder or hurt the reputation of one of God’s children, bury it forever. Find a little garden out back—a little spot somewhere—and when somebody comes around with an evil story, take it out and bury it and say, “Here lies in peace the story about my brother.” God will take care of it. “With what judgment you judge, you shall be judged.” – A. 2. These words carry a strong message to all of us to be more careful in what we say and to whom. I’ve found that gossip–in whatever form–is always hurtful and rarely creates good feelings for anyone.
