basketball!

1950 - Tucumcari Rattler Basketball Squad

If you can identify any of these basketball players, give a holler!
Even if I once knew –
I no longer know.

  1. Their short shorts look so funny and a bit risque for the time!! But, I think that’s how all the basketball shorts were at the time. Pretty funny when today the ones the players wear are usually below their knees with a tighter pair worn underneath.
Hope you find out the names of these nice-looking young men. Can’t help you with that, though.

  2. Oh, I know what you mean! That is just how basketball uniforms were made waaay back then. If you like basketball, check out some film footage (maybe on YouTube, I’m not sure) of “Pistol” Pete Marovitch (may be mis-spelling) who was a great basketball player . . . and that was the uniform all of the teams worn then.

After we would come back from a Rattler basketball game, my younger brother (11 years younger!), would strip to his underwear and run around the house bouncing a ball – being a Basketball Player! He was probably about four or five years old at the time.

Good Grief! I’m telling a lot of family and teenage stories these days!

  3. I love your stories VERY much as I can relate to those special times. And, you never ever have to say to me that you are nattering. I don’t see it that way at all.
