Heaven is a place

“Heaven is a place. Like Poughkeepsie.”

If life is a journey, what is the destination?

The FUMC Sharers Sunday School Class lost a dear class member this morning – Herman Dolle.

He will be missed and we treasure the delightful and sweet memories we have of Herman.

He gifted us with his presence.

He loved his God, his family, his church and this community; he showed that love in every action.

God blessed us with Herman and we pray He enfolds Herman in His love – in Heaven – which is a place.

We pray comfort for the Dolle family.

Herman W. Dolle, age 73 of Seguin, passed away on January 17, 2010. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Purdy officiating. Interment under the auspices of American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 will follow in Eden Cemetery. Survivors include his sister, Jeanette Dietz and his brother, Stanley Dolle.

  1. I love the fact that all of his pictures were in the same place. He must have liked that chair! It sounds like he lived a great life and left quite a legacy. You all were blessed to have known him.

    • He was a very special person who loved life and who lived a Good Life. We were all the better for having known him. Thanks for your comment. You are right: he always sat in that same chair during our Sunday School Hour and had a smile and a positive and sweet comment to everyone – about everything. We – the class – always admired and commented on his beautiful cowboy boots (hence the snapshot of the boots). He was such a gentleman; although we will miss him greatly, he left us with so many Marvelous Herman moments.

Thanks again for your thoughtful comment . . .

  2. Hope, these are great pictures of Herman! His boots…. oh how he loved his boots, …. and his sweet smile. He will be missed.

  3. Thank you for the post about my uncle. You captured him perfectly, and your prayers are felt. We know he’s stomping around heaven in those boots, except when he’s got his bowling shoes on!
