rounding up – for a good cause

Posted on

Roundup is sponsored by Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation.  The proceeds are granted to Guadalupe Regional Medical Center located in Seguin, Texas to help fund special projects that strengthen patient services.  Proceeds from Roundup have helped fund the expansion and upgrade of Maternity Services (including the addition of two private patient suites), a new MRI for the Imaging Department, a new patient monitoring system for the Emergency Room, and a new patient communication system (Nurse Call System), and purchase new hospital beds for the surgical floor.

The 7th annual Roundup Gathering was held at Rio Cibolo Ranch and divided into day events and an evening dinner (with raffle, silent auction  and music by Red Steagall, The Quebe Sisters Band, and Jake Hooker and the Outsiders).  We have only attended four of these Roundups and not only is the fundraiser for a good cause, the event is great fun.

During the day,  events on the  Cowboy Stage included musical entertainment featuring the talents of Dottsy Dwyer, Natalie Rose and Jill Jones and Lone Star Chorale.

Proceeds from this year’s festivities will go toward purchasing four to six more baby warmers for the new maternity floor in the Patient Tower at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.  These warmers are state of the art and each one costs approximately $13,000 to $15,000 each.

This year’s Roundup Cowboy Gathering was dedicated in memory of Georgette Dietz Hawkins who was a long-time Roundup Steering Committee member and a Board Member of Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation.
